I DO think that they have a legit shot at the Highlands (Va High is still my pick to win it) but if they do not win the district they will have a tough time making the Playoff cut
I have heard alot of talk about them being much improved. Does anyone know anything about them? I mean do they have a legit shot at winning the highlands this year and making the playoffs?

hopefully the new coach down in lee county can get that struggling program back to their glory days of the early to mid-90s. there's no excuse for a school of that size to have a poor football team. the problem in the future will be the rest of us in region d. if lee gets back to form, most of us will not have a chance against that large enrollment.

IMO the problem at Lee isn't so much the coach put the politics of the county. I have always heard and it seems to be true that alot of good players don't come out to play because their parents don't want them to play with so&so's kid that is office at the time. Politics has killed the Lee high program.

They should be really good in another year or so. THey have some really good sophomores judging from last years 9th grade team that run all over PV.

It is a combination of problems. A coal camp kid at Appy lives 15 minutes from the school- an hour a day of just travel for 2 a-days, plus it isn't easy for everybody to have a car to travel in. Lee faces drawing kids form the Wildcat, Robbins Chappel, St Charles, all more time to get to practice, less time for grades and sleep. It will take some work to bring back the better days of the 90s. The people are working on the youth programs, and as these kids and parents move toward varsity there a good chance that Lee will improve.
Well practice travel time will be an issue forever however starting in 07 the gameday Travel should be managable
I can see the travel for practice being an issue, but I can also see it as an excuse. Breathitt County in Kentucky fields some very good teams (ask PV) and the travel time there is the same, my wife got on the bus at her house at 6:00 am to get to school at Breathitt.

Lee should have a good team but could be a year away.
The JV team last year was really good. They has size and speed.
Check the population and the Coal Company support provided in Breathitt. Some of the local companies donate big bucks- and if you have more people in the county, you will also gain kids in the sports. What size school would BC be in VA?
